Eastbourne council’s Margaret Bannister said, “We are proud to be supporting the NHS in this endeavour.

“Our Conference Eastbourne and Sovereign Centre teams have rallied round to open up the premises safely and securely, ready to welcome a high volume of people, and will continue to work closely with the NHS to help in their delivery of the local vaccination programme at pace.

“We would like to make clear however that vaccinations are by appointment only. Please do not attend without an invitation. It will not be possible to vaccinate you without a valid appointment.”

Dr Raj Chandarana, the medical director at the South Downs Health and Care GP Federation, said, “We are delighted with this collaboration which will allow us to vaccinate many more people per day, subject to vaccine supply.”
