Jobs in Chichester at risk as Carluccio's enters administration

According to the BBC, the Italian restaurant chain said its collapse was caused by 'challenging trading conditions', exacerbated by the coronavirus pandemic.

The report said administrator FRP is 'urgently looking at options' for the future of the company, which includes mothballing the business using government support, as well as 'trying to sell all or parts of it'.

This comes after the Government, ahead of a country-wide lockdown, ordered the closure of all restaurants and shops in an effort to reduce the spread of coronavirus.

Carluccio's Chichester restaurant — its only branch in Sussex —had used the situation to do some good for the community, with the food remaining in the restaurant divided into bags and given to staff members and those who were most in need.

Following the company's 'collapse', the BBC reported that most of the 2,000 employees will be paid through the Government's job retention scheme while these options are explored.
