The number of people in Chichester who were ‘pinged’ by the Covid app has seen a 70 per cent increase in one week, the latest data shows.

NHS figures show 877 people were alerted via the app in the seven days to July 7. It was 1,498 in the seven days to July 14 – a 70 per cent increase.

Nationally, 607,486 alerts were sent in week ending July 14 – 15.4 per cent of all alerts sent to date, since September, and a record high. To date, 3.94-million alerts have been sent.
