Deputy headteacher Naomi Lewri told students and their parents, "We will ensure you get the grades you have worked so hard for and deserve."

Gemma Curd, a chiropodist in West Wittering, said: "There was a few of us who wanted to send the letter to show how brilliant Chi High has been. I thought it was brilliant I think the school have done everything they possibly can for our children.

"I wanted to write to you to let you know how proud of you all I am. The Government’s announcement yesterday has come as a shock to us all. I know how hard you have all worked this year and deserve the opportunity to show off your ability and progress.

"Please do not worry. We will ensure you get the grades you have worked so hard for and deserve; we are seeking advice on a daily basis from exam boards and I will keep in touch with you about this.

"Remember this simple fact - you are all amazing. You have gifts, talents and abilities that are unique to you. You have something to offer to this world, something that cannot be taken

away, or added to, by the exams you would have taken.

"Please remember that. Your worth, your value, is not affected by examinations. Keep faith. You will be spending the next few weeks at home. It may be a difficult and worrying time for your families. Be kind. Be compassionate. Be patient. Be the mature, proactive student that we know you to be. Help at home and take this opportunity to shine.
