Fears over ‘poisonous’ blue stones in town’s park put to rest
Residents had been sharing concerns online that blue stones, which appeared in drains in Princes Park, could be poisonous – but the council has revealed they have been placed as a ‘trip warning’.
A spokesperson for Eastbourne Borough Council said the stones had been used to fill drains which have lost their covers as to flag the potential trip hazard.

“The stones aren’t toxic. They were there as a precaution to stop people hurting themselves.”
The spokesperson said they have been told the contractor who filled the holes will be contacted to replace the covers as a matter of urgency.
