The entrance is part of a programme of improvements at the Earlswood site, and aims to provide patients and visitors with a spacious, bright reception area as well as branches of Boots, Costa and WH Smith.

Michael Wilson, the chief executive for Surrey and Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust said: “To date we have invested almost £50 million in our clinical departments and patient facilities and I’m delighted Crispin Blunt is here today as he has been incredibly supportive to the Trust.

“Building the new entrance was all about improving the experience for our patients and increasing the facilities on offer to them. We want their whole experience to match their first impression.”
