Jaguar I-Pace update brings faster charging and new infotainment

Jaguar has announced a series of updates to its I-Pace SUV, bringing cosmetic changes, a new media system and faster at-home charging for owners.

The I-Pace was the first all-electric SUV from one of the established premium brands and the model has now been gently revised to add new technology covering everything from charging rates to cabin air quality.

Among the biggest changes is the addition of an 11kW on-board charger as standard, replacing the previous 7kW charger. This will allow owners with a three-phase power supply at home to add up to 33 miles of range with a one-hour charge. The system will also complete a 0-100 per cent charge in 8.6 hours, down from the 12.75 hours required for the 7kW charger. On the go, 100kW public chargers will add up to 78 miles of charge in just 15 minutes.

The I-Pace’s range and performance remain unchanged, offering up to 292 miles on a single charge and a 0-60mph time of just 4.5 seconds.

Inside the car, the Pivo Pro infotainment system has been upgraded and now includes a data SIM with unlimited data to allow for live traffic and navigation updates, music streaming and other internet-connected services. The twin-screen setup now features redesigned menus with improved accessibility, and updated software which halves the number of steps needed to set a navigation destination.

A smartphone pack now also offers wireless phone charging and Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity.

New driver assistance technology includes a standard 3D surround view camera and the introduction of the CearSight rear view camera system first seen in the Range Rover Evoque. A roof-mounted rear-facing camera sends a signal to a screen mounted within the standard rear-view mirror. The driver can switch between the regular mirror and camera system at the touch of a button, giving a clear view backwards when the view via the mirror is obscured - by a middle seat passenger, for example.

Also new for the 2021MY car is a cabin air filtration system that can filter out ultrafine airborne particles and can even “purge” the interior of allergens before passengers get onboard.

The update has also added more cosmetic options for the I-Pace, including a Bright Pack featuring chrome highlights, new alloy wheel designs, and three new paint colours.
