Folk tunes and spirituals at latest choir concert

Hastings Philharmonic Choir presents ‘American Journey’ at St Mary-in-the-Castle, on Saturday, June 22, in a complete change from from its recent performance of Bach’s St John Passion.

This time you can hear spirituals and folk tunes from the Americas. Marcio da Silva will be directing a lively programme, including songs from his native Brazil, bringing to a conclusion his first season in Hastings.

Local singer Susannah Appleyard is the guest soprano and pianist Francis Rayner, the choir’s regular accompanist, will play Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue.
