Mid Sussex restaurant gets MICHELIN spot
Just months after opening its doors in summer 2026, Isca, the garden-led restaurant set within the historic Borde Hill estate, has been officially added to the prestigious MICHELIN Guide.
Restaurant Isca, the garden-led restaurant at Borde Hill in West Sussex, has been added to the MICHELIN Guide, one of the world’s most respected guides to restaurants and

dining.
Set within a glasshouse overlooking the reimagined Walled Kitchen Garden by Ann-Marie Powell, Isca takes inspiration from Borde Hill’s rich botanical heritage.
Named after a rare magnolia tree in the garden, the restaurant celebrates the estate’s horticultural diversity through the cooking of Executive Chef Jack Hazell and Head Chef Philip McEnaney.
Their menus showcase produce from the biodynamic Market Garden, edimental flowers, foraged herbs and preserved ingredients, alongside carefully sourced meat, fish and seafood from local Sussex suppliers.
Open year-round, the menu evolves in rhythm with the equinoxes and solstices, with daily adaptions reflecting the garden’s harvest. This seasonal approach extends to the drinks list, which focusses on low-intervention wines, Sussex vineyards and house-made drinks incorporating ingredients from the garden.
Interiors by Nicola Harding complement the light-filled setting, creating a relaxed dining experience that connects guests with the surrounding landscape. A year-round programme of art further enriches the setting.
Jay Goddard (née Stephenson Clarke), Managing Director and fifth-generation Family custodian of Borde Hill, says: “We are delighted to have been included in the prestigious Michelin Guide after only 5 months of opening.
"We bring garden-led dining to each of our guests, creating joyful experiences each season, and I am incredibly proud of our hugely talented teams across the kitchen, front of house, and the gardens which inspire all that we do.”
