Very popular with dog walkers, runners and walkers, Butts Brow also has a memorial in memory of the crew of a B-24D Liberator Bomber "Ruth-Less" that crashed on February 2nd 1944. The aircraft was very badly damaged by enemy fire and crashed in very poor visibility on its way back to base - 506 Squadron, 44th Bombardment Group, 8th U.S.A.A.F.
