Michael Jones Estate Agents was delighted to present the awards to the green-fingered winners of the royal front garden competition, organised by the Findon Valley Residents’ Association to celebrate the Queen’s 90th birthday.

People living in the valley were invited to showcase their gardening skills by taking part in the competition and making their front gardens fit for a Queen, which helped to enhance the area with their imaginative and colourful creations.

Michael Jones’ Findon branch, in Findon Road, sponsored the event and negotiator Rachel Goff joined the judging panel.

She said they were so impressed by the high level of the entries that they struggled to decide on one winner, so a joint first prize was awarded to two outstanding gardens.

The owners, James Booth, of Hollingbury Gardens, and Tony and Sheila Payne, of Cissbury Avenue, gratefully received a £50 voucher for Wyevale Garden Centre.

The runners-up prize of a bottle of champagne went to Miss Jennifer Goddard for her beautiful garden in Vale Drive.

Rachel said: “It was such a pleasure to help judge this competition and we were so impressed with the hard work and skill that went into the gardens that were entered.

“Findon Valley is a fabulous place to live, made even more beautiful by the efforts of our local gardeners.”

Based on the success of the competition, the association, together with Michael Jones Estate and Letting Agents, hopes to make it an annual event.

Fiona Lewis, marketing manager at Michael Jones, said: “This is great news for keen Findon Valley gardeners as well as the local residents who get to enjoy the results.”
