Domaines Du Chateau Ltd is applying for planning permission from Wealden District Council for 12 new homes on land to the rear of Hazelbank in Rattle Road, half-way between Stone Cross and Westham.

The plan proposes the construction of eight market housing properties and four social, affordable or intermediate rent properties.

This will include two three-bedroom houses and six houses with four or more bedrooms under market housing as well as two one-bedroom flats, one two-bedroom house and one three-bedroom.

The plan is to demolish the existing chalet bungalow and build the new homes on the site and in fields behind.

A new road is proposed to be built connecting the homes to Rattle Road.

As part of the proposal, 25 car parking spaces and 24 cycle spaces will also be created.

In a design and access statement submitted with the application, a spokesperson for the developers said, “The layout fills the site well, ensuring a good layout, space, light, separation, garden and amenity space and parking, respecting the amenities of all future occupants within the site, and neighbours beyond.

“The layout will ensure a good range of housing within the site, well laid out, and would provide a net 11 dwellings to the housing stock, of considerable value to Wealden in view of their severe housing deficit at the time of submission of this application, in a sustainable location, and providing four units of affordable housing, to the satisfaction of the council’s housing development officer.”
