Littlehampton debt centre celebrates 10th anniversary with special service
Ten years of helping people in the Littlehampton area to find a way out of debt will be celebrated at a special anniversary service.
Littlehampton CAP Debt Centre, supported by Arun Church, is celebrating its 10th anniversary and at the same time, CAP, the charity Christians Against Poverty, marks its 30th anniversary.
Flo Collingwood, debt centre manager, and debt coach Kate Holland run money budgeting courses, one-to-one classes and group classes to help people get control of their finances.
Flo, who has been manager since January 2023, said: “This year, we have already seen 12 clients go debt free, while we support more than 35 clients at any one time. It is amazing to see clients not only have the weight of debt removed but also find freedom.”

Free debt help has been provided by CAP since 1996, helping people to get out of debt and equipping them with practical tools and confidence to face any money problems in the future.
The CAP area manager will join the team for the anniversary service at The Littlehampton Academy on Sunday, November 1, from 10.30am to 12pm.
There will be a cake sale after the service to raise money for the debt centre. CAP colours are traditionally white, green and blue but any nut-free cake donations would be appreciated. Visit www.arunchurch.com/about/events for more information.
Flo said: “It's going to be awesome. We will be finding out all about CAP, as well as having cake and a talk for the kids.”
Courses are held at The Wickbourne Centre in Littlehampton and group classes are run at Littlehampton Jobcentre and The Pantry in Rustington.
Flo said: “These provide invaluable tips and tools to budget and take control of your finances.”
The charity Christians Against Poverty is determined to reduce hardship in the UK, with the help of local churches. It launched its free debt service in Bradford in 1996 and this has since been spread across the UK, being made available to all, regardless of age, gender, faith or background.
Arun Church partnered with CAP and the Littlehampton debt centre was launched in August 2016 with Carol Boreham as the first manager, backed up by financial experts at CAP’s head office and a team of support workers. Call 0800 328 0006 or visit www.capuk.org for more information.
