Next stop Hastings for music project

Raw Roads is a collaborative youth music touring project bringing the best in Brixton’s spoken word, urban music and MC performance to six coastal towns in the south east.

Next stop on the tour is Hastings, where a showcase event will take place at Brass Monkey, in Havelock Road, tomorrow (Saturday) at 6pm.

The free event open to the public will feature performances from talented aspiring artists who took part in workshops at Xtrax young people’s centre.

In collaboration with young people age 12 to 24 and in partnership with organisations and venues across the UK South Coast.

From Southend-on-Sea to Portsmouth, the project explores the notion of empowerment through the spoken word, the power and forces of words and language to affect and change.

Young people were given the chance to hone their performance skills under the guidance of professional performers and mentors.

Raw Roads is supported by the National Lottery and Arts Council England.
