Betty said, “I am like a dog with two tails. We have got our Pride back and I think it is something for the town to look forward to and for the youngsters who are finding their sexuality at this time in life.”

The event will start with a march from the pier to Princes Park where there will be a number of performances throughout the day.

Betty said, “It is a lift for the town because everybody loves the Pride and it is not just the LGBT community, it is heterosexual families.

“Everybody comes along and we have got people coming from Wales, from London, Brighton, all over.”

Betty also talked about the importance of the event which takes place in a number of locations every year.

Betty said, “There are so many people to help. That is the difference. That is why we need Pride. To help families.

“That is the important thing, to get help and support. It is something we never had in our younger days but there is support there if you know where to go to get it and that is the important part and that’s what Pride is all about, helping each other.”
