The sea captured in literal and poetic sense

A screening of artists’ films compiled by Louise Colbourne is to be shown at the Jerwood Gallery, in Hastings, on June 1.

They focus particularly on the sea, our physical relationship with water, and a dip into the darker aspects of total submergence, hence the collective title Flood.

Contributing artists include those from Hastings such as Andrew Kotting. There is an eclectic mix of work ranges from an early short film by Peter Greenaway, to eccentric, uncomfortably emotive cameos by Laure Prouvost.

The screening includes both literal representations of the sea and more poetic and abstracted reveries.

The event starts at 2pm and will last an hour and a half. Tickets are £5. To book call 01424 728377.
