Where music and cinema come together

Buster plays Buster is a unique event where music and cinema meet, and is to take place at St Mary-in-the-Castle, Hastings, on Saturday, May 12.

The Buster Birch quartet - Buster Birch, Jo Fooks, Jim Treweek and Pete Ringrose - play jazz standards from the likes of Duke Ellington, Miles Davis, Charlie Parker.

The performances are set to short films created by Buster especially for the music.

The first half is called ‘Tribute to the Greats’.

After the interval Buster introduces a screening of the 1924 silent movie Sherlock Jr starring Buster Keaton, with music performed by the group and synchronised to the movie.

This event makes full use of the giant cinema screen at St Mary-in-the- Castle where a season of silent movies a few years ago proved extremely popular.

The music starts at 11am with the screening of the film at 12.30pm.

Tickets are £8 in advance from Hastings Information Centre or Second Spin, Bexhill, and will also be on sale at the door.

More information is available by calling 01424-442601.
