1066 Specials spring fair

Crockery smashing, welly wanging, splat the rat, and hook-a-duck...it was all go at the 1066 Specials Football Club spring fete and boot fair at St Richard's college.

The sun shone down as visitors enjoyed the many attractions on offer, which included a dance display by Dyamond Dance, stirring scottish pipe music played by the Robertson Academy, undulation from Sheik's Delight Belly Dancers, and the fluffiness of Cuddle Bunnies.

There were also visits from our local coastguard, a fire appliance from Bexhill community fire station, and classic vehicles courtesy of Bexhill 100 Motoring Club.

Organiser Jan Wyatt said: "We have had a few come in - I think it has been a success.

"This is the first event like this we have done, we just thought to raise whatever we can, and we haven't had to pay for anything - everything has been donated, and the dance group and the band have all given their time for free. We have got a lot of people behind us...thanks to all the people here it has been such a lovely day - weatherwise as well."

Jonathan Haddock is head of coaching for the disability football team that meets for training and matches at Bexhill College.

He commented: "Today is all about raising money for 1066 Specials. We have got lovely weather and it is nice to see that so many people have come out to support us...Thanks to the boot sellers, stallholders, and all the people who have volunteered today to run different events, to everyone here who has given up their time to support the club. The weather has shone on us today and hopefully it will shine on us tomorrow as well for our tournament."
