Look back to Lewes Bonfire 2019

Lewes Bonfire will return on November 5 with the independent societies Cliffe, Commercial Square, Waterloo, South Street, Southover and Lewes Borough expected to host celebrations across the town.

Here, look back to 2019 – the last time the event was held – with 25 photographs captured by Jon Rigby.

It was a year that saw tableaux of Boris Johnson, Nigel Farage, Jacob Rees-Mogg and King Neptune and an estimated attendance of 25,000 – 5,000 less than 2018 – despite transport restrictions.
