80th birthday celebrations for nursery owner

Beryl English is holding a celebration lunch on May 30 at the Royal Norfolk Hotel to mark the occasion.

Beryl ran the Carinya nursery school at the rear of the United Reformed Church in Linden Road until it closed in December 1998.

"We had so many lovely children," she recalled. "The youngest would now be in their mid-teens."

They were involved in many activities such as Easter bonnet parades and Red Nose fundraising efforts.

Before she ran the nursery, Havelock Road resident Beryl was the reception teacher at Yapton C of E Primary School between 1972 and 1979.
