90th birthday bash

BEXHILL resident Margaret Eileen Adams celebrated her 90th birthday in style with over a hundred & fifty family and friends with a party held in the Old Town at St Peters church hall.

Margaret, known affectionately as 'Peggy', has lived in or around the Bexhill area for the past fifty two years, having moved from Finchley with husband Jack in 1957.

Most of Peggy's immediate family (the majority of which still live in the local area) consisting of six children, seventeen grand children, their partners, and nineteen great grandchildren joined in the celebrations.

After a special birthday lunch, entertainment was provided by grandchildren and great grandchildren, with performances of break-dancing, ballet, kung-fu, songs, music and gymnastics.

Daughter Diana, who travelled from Spain to attend the celebrations, said the party was "a huge success", adding:

"Peggy surprised everyone with a wonderful thank you speech which she gave to the assembled guests without the aid of any notes. She was delighted with the entire proceedings and a wonderful time was had by all."

Peggy, and her family play an active part of the Bexhill community and are involved in a variety of activities including badminton, brownies, canoeing, dancing, dogs, fancy dress, fund-raising, guiding, sailing, tennis, theatre, and two of her grandchildren are currently Bexhill's Carnival Queen and deputy.
