A garden to delight senses at Rose Green Infant School

A garden to delight the senses is being prepared at Rose Green Infant School.

The site is being created in a little-used corner of the school grounds off Hawkins Close. Work should soon be completed.

Headteacher Susanne Carter said: "The design will include areas where small groups of children can explore by using each of the five senses '“ sight, sound, smell, touch and taste."

It is being funded by a 4,000 grant from the Royal Bank of Scotland, in collaboration with Learning Through Landscapes, as part of its supergrounds scheme.

Armed with the money, the school's mini-governors were involved in designing the area. The garden continues the school's proud tradition which saw it become the first eco-school in the Bognor Regis area.

"The sensory garden fits in with the curriculum in which the young children study their senses," said Mrs Carter. "It is also a lovely tranquil spot."

Groundwork for the garden and its water feature has finished and planting is under way.
