Music clubs and class performances will fill the first seven hours with string, woodwind, brass and rock groups to follow. All players will be sponsored for their 30 or 60 minute spot.

Mrs White said: 'The sky is the limit. If the sun has got his hat on, blue birds are over the white cliffs of Dover and the man who broke the bank at Monte Carlo or the happiest millionaire turns up, we'll be somewhere over the rainbow and whistling a happy tune.'

On a less lyrical note she added: 'We can guarantee a really superb night of entertainment with soloists and a big band playing Jools Holland-style music all night.

Talented

'Bring a group of friends, sit round a table and enjoy the refreshments that are available.'

From 7.30pm to midnight talented students, teachers and local musicians will strut their stuff, and pay for the privilege, in Cabaret Time.

For the rest of the night a select number, paying 25 a head for the privilege, will play and sing on a huge host of themes. There will be musicals, folk, jazz, Beatles, Queen, keep fit music and silly songs.

After a quick wash and brush-up the drooping musicians will open the doors again for a sing-along and coffee Dawn Chorus at 7.30am on the Saturday.

Readers wishing to take part should call Mrs White on 01323 891623.

Tickets to watch performances on June 28 at the Steyne Road site are 3 from the college.
