A run to remember

From May 15-21 a tough team of runners from the RBL Riders Branch will be pounding out 90 kilometres in seven days.
They will run 13k every day on courses throughout the country and Bexhill has been chosen as the place this challenge will finally end.

They will be joined by serving Royal Marines and a member of the Dragoon Guards, and are led by Royal Naval reservist Ray Collins, who is organising the event.
They start off from Lichfield Cathedral and then pass through Great Yarmouth, Lowestoft, Cardiff, Weston-Super-Mare, and Portsmouth on their arduous way.
The final stretch is from Battle Abbey at 9am to Bexhill, aiming to finish at 11.30am.

“This is the 90th year. It will help raise our profile in the community as well as have people realise we are a Royal British Legion Poppy home.”
There is an appeal for everyone to show support for this 90th anniversary run and there are different ways to do that - by sponsoring the runners, turning out on the day to welcome them to Bexhill, and even joining in by running.
One of these runners will be David Alexander who is a former Royal Engineer and now a carer at Mais House.
He will run the final leg with other members of staff.
