Abuse costs £80

A DRUNKEN Peacehaven man abused police in Newhaven shopping precinct, magistrates at Lewes were told on Wednesday.

Before the court was David Munkley, 47, of Howard Place, who admitted being drunk and disorderly.

He was fined 30 with 50 costs.

Claire Prodger, prosecuting, said police were called to Newhaven town centre on Novmber 9 and arrested a man outside an off-licence.

The man was part of a group of people and Munkley got up from a bench and started shouting. He was told to go away but continued shouting abuse in the crowded shopping area.

He was unsteady on his feet and was finally arrested.

Munkley told the court he got upset when police came up to his group.
