A brochure detailing events is available from the Town Hall, leisure centres, libraries and community venues.

The week is an annual event designed to bring people together to enable organisations, communities and individuals to celebrate and encourage a sense of belonging and inclusion across the district.

Hilary Spencer, chairwoman of the Arun local strategic partnership, said it was a reflection of the diversity within Arun.

It included favourites for all ages, physical and intellectual activities and new experiences.

"Many of the events and activities showcased during the week are available in Arun throughout the year," said Mrs Spencer.

"We are encouraging local residents to take advantage of this opportunity to explore what their community has to offer."

Arun councillor Paul Dendle sits on the Arun community cohesion group.

He said: "Arun community week is very much a festival by the people for the people. More and more, people living in Arun come from different backgrounds, have different preferences and enjoy different lifestyles.

"Difference can make for a richer and more diverse life. It is exactly these kind of differences that are worth celebrating."

Display boards will be in place in Bognor library during the week for anyone to post a reflection about the meaning of 'community'. It could be a photograph, prose or poetry, drawing or other art work.
