Afternoon of fun and craziness in Bognor Regis this weekend

An afternoon of craziness is in store on Bognor Regis seafront this weekend.

The second Hell and High Water will take place on Sunday, June 6.

Many activities which saw participants join in the 'watery whackery' in last year's inaugural event will return, joined by new fun events to appeal to all ages.

Hell and High Water is the creation of local jigsaw puzzle creator Mike Jupp and is staged with the help of Bognor Regis Town Council.

All the activities take place along the seafront between the bandstand and the beacon opposite The Regis pub. Registration tables by the bandstand open at midday.

This will see the start of the children's activities. They will include the longest seascape collage. Each child can decorate a section of card to be fixed on to the promenade railings and measured.

Community artist Su Cloud will also be running a clay workshop for all ages on the bandstand.

The hobby horse steeplechase for over-18s starts at 1pm. The riders on their provided hobby horses will cover a course over two breakwaters. The first two home receive cash prizes.

It will be a 2.30pm start for the heats of the Boggerbugs boat race in which teams of four in fancy dress run from the promenade, get in their boats and paddle on a return course to a fixed buoy. A 10 entry fee applies and the first two crews home in the final at 4pm win cash prizes.

Pluck A Duck takes place at 3pm where children hook a plastic duck from the sea. Each duck has a prize.

The 'Jig-It' beach jigsaw puzzle challenge starts at 3.30pm and sees teams of two have 90 minutes to complete one of Mike's 1,000-piece puzzles as the tide comes in.

Timing of all the events could change depending on the weather and tide conditions.
