Following a landmark agreement between National Parks England and Mobile Operators Association, the South Downs will finally have high-quality connectivity.
The agreement, which has attracted wide support, was launched by Government ministers, who said it was an important step forward in making sure rural areas benefited from modern technological advances.
Angie Blowman, sustainable futures manager for the South Downs National Park Authority, said: “This agreement will make it possible for South Downs communities to get the consistent and high-quality mobile connection they need at the same time as protecting the precious landscapes for which the National Park was designated. We look forward to working with the mobile operators in order to achieve this.”
Small businesses welcomed the move, saying, mobile phones were important to their business operation.
Planning minister Nick Boles said the agreement supported the principles of the sector-led and owned Code of Best Practice.
