All Saints' School Summer Fete

THE RAIN held off and the sun did it's best to break through, ensuring all those who attended the All Saints' school summer fete were able to not only enjoy the variety of stalls inside the main hall, but also to partake of the wide range of outdoor activities on offer, and help raise an all time high for the school's PTFA fund.

The many revellers had a wide selection of traditional activities to try their skills at including, a coconut shy, bouncy castle, face painting, netball and football shoot-outs, a lucky dip, 'Bobbing Ducks', 'Play your cards Right', guess the weight of a cake and the name of a teddy bear, a tombola and grand raffle.

In addition was the unusual 'Splat the Malteser' game and a very popular game called 'Soak the Teacher' - the brave soul on the receiving end of the soaking was Year four teacher Mr Fuller.

Stalls sold a range of goods, including books, videos, toys, homemade cakes and scones, and refreshments were served.

The event proved to be a great success and raised 1,190 which, Chairman of the PTFA (Parent, Teachers and Friend's Association) Vanessa Adams - one of the organisers of the event - said would go towards purchasing a new shed to store playground equipment and expressed her thanks to everyone for their support. She said: "This is the best we've ever done and the day went really well."

Vanessa also wished to express her thanks to all those who had worked so hard to put the day together with special thanks to Sally Hayes, secretary of the PTFA. She said: "Without Sally's and all the hard-work from parents and year six children, today wouldn't have happened."
