An amazingbank holidayweekend instore for Rye

RYE will be buzzing this weekend with an international Jazz Festival in full swing and Rye Raft Race set to attract huge crowds on Sunday afternoon.

An allocation of tickets has been made available on the door for Jazz Festival concerts that have not sold out and there are plenty of free events to enjoy around the town.

Great live music takes place at the Ypres pub each afternoon and evening over the bank holiday weekend from 3pm – 9pm and there will be an outdoor bar and barbecue.

There are also free concerts over the weekend in courtyard of the George and in Rye Buttermarket in front of the Town Hall.

Headlining the Festival at Rye College on Saturday night is Clint Eastwood’s bass playing son Kyle and his band.

The festival also takes in blues, soul and world music.

Beyond Rye there are festival events at the Plough at Cock Marling on Sunday, with live music and a barbecue; live Samba at the Gallivant, Camber on Sunday and a jazz trio and barbecue at the Ship, Winchelsea Beach, also on Sunday.

Sunday’s good natured mayhem on the river for the Raft Race will be followed by a big family fair on Rye Salts.

The event, organised by Rye Lions, is set to raise thousands of pounds for charities and good causes.

As if that wasn’t enough there are exhibitions being held by Rye Society of Artists and Rye Tuesday Painters over the weekend.
