Animal rescue charity's plea for volunteers

A charity which looks after abandoned and lost cats is desperate for new volunteers to help run its services.

Cat Call, based in Brightling Road, also needs sponsors and donations to help towards the cost of cats' food, litter and vet care.

Amanda Slatter, a volunteer for the charity, said: "We are desperate for people to come in and help with the cats.

"This weekend alone we took in another four cats. They are constantly streaming in to us at the moment."

Volunteers are needed to clean up after the cats, help at jumble sales and host fundraisers such as coffee nornings.

Cat Call also has a shortage of pens for its cats. It currently has more than 20 cats, many of which need rehoming.

The charity is trying to raise around 20,000 towards a block of five pens so is looking for donations or fundraising ideas.
