Are you in this photo?

CAN YOU spot yourself in the photo? Or recognise someone who used to live in the town?

Steyning museum is hoping to get all the names of those people who took part in the millennium photo.

The museum has so far received a ‘tremendously helpful response’, however, curator Chris Tod said: “Not surprisingly because it was a long time ago now - many people find it hard to remember where they were standing and even whether they were there or not.”

The photo was taken in July 1999 to mark the millennium, there are 583 Steyning residents in the photo which was taken on St Cuthman’s meadow.

Chris added: “One of the fun things is seeing people who were children or youngsters then who are now making their way in the world and, in some cases, have children of their own.”

One worry is that people may have moved away from the village, however, Chris is hopefully that ‘others will recognise them and be able to put names to the faces’.

The photo is on display until March 2012 at Steyning museum, Church Street. The museum is open Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, from 10.30am to 12.30pm, and 2.30pm to 4pm, Saturday 10.30am to 4pm, and 2.30pm to 4pm on Sunday.
