DICKER LINKS: Is a leaflet published each month which gives details of events taking place in the Upper Dicker area. The main circulation is via e-mail and there are now almost 100 on the circulation list. ROADWORKS: Today, Friday, on Station Road at the junction with Chilver Bridge Road and Common Lane, Selmeston, BT will need to get into various boxes along Station Road to allow pulling in a new fibre cable working 9.30am to 3.30pm. There will be traffic control (multi-way signals). Between September 2 and 9, in Station Road, Berwick, opposite Shabbards, there will be roadworks involving some carriageway incursions.

MOBILE LIBRARY: Today, Friday, the mobile library will call at Arlington Village Hall between 2.20pm and 2.45pm, and then at Berwick Village Hall between 2.55pm and 3.10pm. Further details may be obtained from 03456080195/196.

ANNUAL SHOW: Berwick Produce Association Annual Show. Tomorrow, Saturday, there will be the 61st annual produce show starting at 2pm on the Berwick Playing Field.

BERWICK WHIST DRIVE: On Wednesday there will be a whist drive in Berwick Village Hall stating at 7.15pm. All are welcome.

BERWICK PARISH COUNCIL: The next meeting of Berwick Parish Council is a full council meeting and will be on Tuesday at 7pm at Berwick Village Hall. The meeting will consider a planning application WD/2016/1659/MAJ for development of land at Station Farm, Berwick for 33 new dwellings, three new shops and two new offices plus associated works. To include community photovoltaic panel system.

ARLINGTON ARTS GROUP: On Wednesday at 6.30pm at Pickhams, there will be a committee meeting to which all members and the committee are welcome. The meeting will be discussing the format for future meetings and electing a new secretary and Chair. Please let Josie know if you would like to be considered for either role. ARLINGTON PARISH COUNCIL: The next Arlington Parish Council meeting will be held on September 15 at 7.30pm in Arlington Village Hall.

YOGA CLASSES: The Yoga class is held every Monday in Arlington Village Hall from 3pm to 4.15pm. It is open to all levels as the yoga taught here can be adapted to suit most individual needs and abilities. Since starting the class in 2015, there is now a group of a dozen ‘regulars’ who have made steady progress. It is enjoyable, informative and fun. To book: Email: [email protected]

FLOWER SHOW: Arlington and Upper Dicker Produce and Flower Show on Saturday September 3 starting at 3pm in Arlington Village Hall. Fun event for all ages in the spirit of have a go. Classes for vegetables, fruit, flowers, flower arranging, cookery, children’s classes and craftwork. Copies of the Programme and entry form are in the August edition of Dicker Links or from the Upper Dicker Village Shop. Entries close on Wednesday. MEN’S BREAKFAST: On Saturday, September 10 at 9am a Men’s Breakfast will be held in the Village Shop, Upper Dicker. Join the Vicar and others for a short talk, time for a chat and a scrumptious breakfast. The breakfasts will be held monthly and in September David, our Vicar, will be talking about his Life in Cars.

QUIZ NIGHT: A Quiz Night will be held on Saturday, September 10 in Upper Dicker Village Hall. Further details to follow.

HEDGE-LAYING COMPETITION: On Saturday, September 10, the Laughton and District Agricultural Society’s annual competition will be hosted by Peter and Jackie Appleton. Spectators are welcome and the entrance is opposite Raylands Farm, Tye Hill Lane.

BARN DANCE: A Barn Dance will be held on September 10 at Bluebell Barn, Bates Green Farm. Tickets at £7 are available from the Bluebell Farm Shop.

LIONS DOG SHOW: On Sunday September 25, the Lions Dog Show will be taking place throughout the day in Upper Dicker Village Hall. Further details will follow.
