Artist Antony Penrose opens acclaimed arts fair

THE Pure Autumn Art Fair, now in its fourth year, enjoyed a glorious evening at the PowderMills Hotel last week, welcoming Antony Penrose, director of the Lee Miller archives, to open the show.

The exhibition plays host to more than 200 selected contemporary fine art works showcasing the very best of drawing, painting, sculpture, photography and print from extraordinarily talented new, emerging and established artists.

This year’s judges, James Horton PRBA president of Royal British Artists, Karina Phillips, director of Gallery Different and artist Matt Small had plenty to deliberate over.

The 2013 award winners are:

Best Overall Artist - James Roseveare; FIELD

Best Sculpture/3D - Billie Bond; A link with the past

Best Painting - Paul O’Brien; Rapunzel 091 12001

Best Original Print - Will Taylor; The Perfect Cow

Best Drawing - Louisa Crispin; Lichen on Gleditsia III

Best Photograph - Janine Kilroe; Carousel

Best Emerging - Helen Acklam; All that Remains

The PURE special merit prize chosen by the curators - John Shanks

These award-winning artists will be exhibiting with Pure at STRARTA art fair at the Saatchi Gallery, London, October 9-13 2013.

The Pure Autumn Art Fair is open 10am-6pm every day until September 22.

On Sunday September 22 there will be an opportunity to chat informally with many of the Pure Autumn Art Fair exhibiting artists at The PowderMills Hotel from 2pm.
