Arun residents could be entitled to benefits

RESIDENTS could be entitled to help with their bills.

More than 50 people have been given council tax benefit since Arun District Council urged them to apply, earlier this year, but believe more residents could be eligible.

Councillor Paul Dendle, Arun’s cabinet member for central services, with responsibility for revenues and benefits, said: “While we take a hard line on benefit fraud, we want to do all we can to help people claim benefits they are entitled to so, we are really pleased the scheme to get residents to put in claims is proving successful.

“Times are tough for a lot of people and many of those people may be struggling financially when they could be getting help. We would urge anyone who thinks they may have a case for benefit to go on the website or give the council a call.”

Residents can use an online calculator, at www.arun.gov.uk to see if they are entitled to the benefit, or call 01903 737753.
