The five declared General Election candidates for the parliamentary seat will be attending hustings events at St Nicholas Church in Arundel on Wednesday April 15 from 7-9pm, then will reconvene a week later at Steyning Grammar School for a question time and debate on green issues on Tuesday April 21.

Conservative incumbent Nick Herbert will be joined by UKIP’s Peter Grace, Shweta Kadapia of the Lib Dems, the Green Party’s Isabel Thurston, and Labour’s Christopher Wellbelove.

The Arundel event has been organised by the Arundel Churches Liaison Committee and will be chaired by Oliver Hawkins, an Arundel resident for more than 40 years.

Questions can be sent by Monday April 13 to Mr Hawkins at [email protected]

The second event is the brainchild of the Steyning Greening Campaign, a voluntary group set up in 2010 to promote local action to address climate change in Steyning, Bramber, and Upper Beeding.

The debate will be chaired by Robin Hart, programme director at the nearby Wilton Park Conference Centre.
