Arundel-based rock band The Alternatives joined forces with the Burpham Village Committee to stage a summer party, held in a giant barn at Home Farm, in Wepham.

The band, which performs to raise money for local charities and for St Nicholas’ Church, Arundel, added £500 of its own to the £500 generated by the party, to present £1,000 to the Multiple Sclerosis Trust.

John Prideaux, of The Alternatives, praised the village committee for ‘drumming up great support for the event, which was a huge success’.

Committee treasurer Valerie Belton responded by thanking the band for their performance. She said: “The music was terrific, and very easy on the ear.”

There is already talk of repeating the event next summer.

Formed in 2005, The Alternatives are a six-piece band comprising members and friends of the St Nicholas’ congregation. For more information about the band and how to make a booking, see the website www.thealternatives.org.uk
