Arundel Musuem Society revives town tourist hub

THE future is finally brightening for the Arundel Museum Society after it agreed to take over the site of the former Visitor Information Centre in the town.

After more than four years of development limbo, the society will soon have a new area to display its exhibits, at the premises in Crown Yard Mews.

It will also bring back a tourist information facility in Arundel for the first time since the old centre closed at the end of August.

The society, which hopes work will be starting before the end of the year on its new £1.4m museum in Mill Road, will be relocating from its temporary History Store cabin, in the Mill Road car park.

Chairman for the museum, Pauline Carder, said: “This will be a light at the end of the tunnel.

“It’s come as a bit of a relief.

“But make no mistake, this is by no means the end of the road for us.

“There is still a lot of work left to do.”
