Arundel runner clocks up more miles and £400

Arundel runner Jason Pointing, who has raised thousands of pounds for charity, completed London’s Royal Parks half-marathon to add another £400 to his total.

Family, friends and workmates at Arundel’s Bay Tree restaurant in Tarrant Street sponsored Jason, 41, who was running on behalf of the mental health charity Mind.

The 13-plus mile route took runners through three of the capital’s famous open spaces – Hyde Park, Green Park and St James’s Park, as well as over Westminster Bridge, through Admiralty Arch and past landmarks including Buckingham Palace. He finished in 2hr 39min.

“The conditions were lovely for running and there were crowds of people watching us, especially on The Embankment and along the Serpentine,” said Jason, of Pearson Road. His next big run will be the 2013 Brighton Marathon.
