Asbestos dust scare at Toddington site

COMPLAINTS about clouds of dust, feared to be potentially deadly asbestos, blowing off the Eden Park development site at Toddington, have been investigated by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE).

Several people complained to Arun District Council's pollution team that dust, some of which was claimed to be from asbestos cement sheets, was being deposited around the site, on to nearby homes and over the nearby Body Shop nursery.

Rosemary Orpin, Littlehampton town councillor for Wick and Todding-ton, raised the issue with fellow town and Arun District councillor Mark Butler, who told the Gazette: "We needed to know that people's health was not being put at risk."
