Ashburnham

Afternoon Book Group: The afternoon book group are next meeting today, September 26, 2pm. September’s book is ‘White Man Falling’, by Mike Stocks. Being a comic novel set in contemporary India, it chronicles the catastrophes and miracles which befall retired policeman Swami, and shows how apparently meaningless events can sometimes produce meaningful effects in our lives. For further information of the book/group, please call Nicky on 01424 892474.

Macmillan Coffee Morning: Ashburnham and Penhurst will once again be taking part in the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning, which is Macmillan Cancer Support’s biggest fundraising event. In 2013, a record £20 million was raised across the country. This year Macmillan are hoping to raise even more money to help change the lives of those affected by cancer and, as a village, we are proud to be part of this event. The Coffee Morning will take place tomorrow, Saturday, September 27, 10a.m. - 12p.m. at the Pavilion, Ashburnham. Along with tea and coffee, there will be delicious cakes and a raffle. If you have any prizes you would like to donate, please call Gill on 892674. The organisers hope you can join them on the day and support this worthwhile cause.
