Flower Show: The 6th Annual Ashburnham & Penhurst Gardening Club/WI Fete & Flower Show is tomorrow, August 16, 2 p.m. at Ashburnham Sports Ground. The afternoon promises to be a fun event for all the family and will include the usual favourites such as tombola, raffle, hook a duck, plus music accompaniment from Heathfield Silver Band. There will also be a chance to find a bargain on the ‘Trash and Treasure’ stall, smash a plate or two on the crockery smashing stall and to try the delicious WI refreshments available. Visitors will have the opportunity to view the varied entries of flowers, vegetables and fruit, produce, cakes and handicrafts from the flower show. Coffee Morning: The next Coffee Morning is on Monday August 18 in the Church Hall, Ashburnham Place 10.30 a.m. - 12 p.m. You are welcome to go along for a good friendly chat. For further information, please contact Tina on 01424 843728.

WI: Ashburnham & Penhurst WI are meeting on Monday, August 18, 7.30 p.m. at the Village Hall. This month they welcome Julie Brett who will give a talk on Demelza Children’s Charity. No need to book – just go along! Visitors and new members are always welcome.

Coffee Morning: Ashburnham Chapel are holding a coffee morning on August 25, 10.30 a.m. - 12 p.m. All are welcome to join them.

Gardening Club: The Ashburnham and Penhurst Gardening Club are next meeting on August 26, 7.30 p.m. This month they will be visiting member’s gardens. For more information, contact Brian Holdstock on 01323 832082 or view their website: www.ashpengc.org.uk.

Village Lunch: The next Village Lunch is on August 27, at Penhurst retreat Centre, 12.30 p.m. Lunch is cooked every month for any older residents in the villages who would like a bit of company and a delicious meal. Mobile Library: The East Sussex County Council Mobile Library service will next be in Ashburnham (by the chapel) on Thursday, August 28, 9.50 a.m. - 10.10 a.m.

After School Club: The After School Club resumes on September 11, 4.15 p.m. at Ashburnham Village Hall.

Diary Date: The Chapel harvest weekend is October 4/5 and their Pumpkin party being held on Novermber 1. More information nearer the time.
