BALCOMBE GARDENERS' ASSOCIATION WISLEY TRIP: takes place on Thursday 6 September leaving the Victory Hall Car Park at 8.30 am.

WI AIR AMBULANCE TALK: the September meeting on Thursday 6 September at 2 pm in the Victory Hall will be a talk by the Kent Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance Service. We are hoping as many people will come and join us for this talk as it is so very important to the whole village. We want to know how they work and how we can help them to do this life saving work. So please come and join us for the talk and we throw in tea and cake FREE. . We look forward to greeting you there (and bring a friend too). Remember it might be your life they save next time.

BALCOMBE GARDENERS’ ASSOCIATION: the Autumn Show is on Saturday 8 September 2.30 – 4.00 pm in the Victory Hall. Entries should be sent to the Show Secretary by email - [email protected] or look in the Year Book for more details. Do come along to enjoy wonderful displays of flowers and vegetables plus the opportunity to indulge in some fantastic home-made cakes.

BALCOMBE HISTORY SOCIETY: has its first Talk this Autumn, on Wednesday 12 September at 8pm, in the Victory Hall, entry is £1 for members and £3 for visitors, to include refreshment. Everyone is welcome. The title is ‘The History of the London to Brighton Veteran Car Run’ and the talk will be delivered by David Ralph. One year this ‘old crock’s race’ passed through Balcombe: it promises to be an entertaining and informative evening. The subjects for October and November are, respectively, ‘The History of Borde Hill House and Gardens’ and a Magic Lantern Show. On Friday 14 September, there is a guided walking tour of East Grinstead (approximately 1 hour) and/or a visit, with talk, of the museum, featuring memorabilia from Archibald McIndoe’s work at the hospital, and the Guinea Pig Club. Each event is £5, and it is hoped that members can car share.

BALCOMBE BOWLS CLUB: On Sunday 2 September Isle of Thorns 69: Balcombe 46. Unfortunately on Saturday Balcombe Bowls Club could not field a team for the match with Colemans Hatch because of lack of numbers.

BALCOMBE CLUB: the QUIZ takes place on Sunday 9 September at 8.00 pm. Teams of four. Look out for the Race Night on Saturday 15 September at 7.30 pm.

PACK UP YOUR TROUBLES!: On Sunday 16 September at 4.00 pm in the Victory Hall you will be able to witness how Balcombe was part of World War 1 through 80 minutes of Poetry, Drama and Music using the unique murals in the Victory Hall as inspiration. Join in singing some of the famous songs of the time with contributions from the Victory Players, children from Balcombe School, St Mary’s Choir and St Mary’s Children. Tickets £5.00 Available now from Threads. Proceeds to the Royal British Legion. Refreshments will be provided after the event.
