Battle air cadet officer awarded

PILOT Officer Maria Muggridge, of 304 DF (Battle) Squadron, was honoured at a ceremony in Crawley recently.

Plt Off Muggridge was awarded the Lord Lieutenant of East Sussex Meritorious Service Certificate.

Each year the Lord Lieutenant awards a very limited number of these certificates in recognition of the service, dedication and application of those who work with the Reserve and Cadet associations throughout the county.

Plt Off Muggridge said: “I felt very honoured to receive this award.

“I couldn’t have achieved so many years’ good service without the Cadets themselves and, of course, the assistance of some wonderful staff.”

The office of the Lord-Lieutenant is an ancient tradition; appointed by Her Majesty the Queen.

The role represents the Sovereign on official engagements and also oversees the work of the armed forces and Justices of the Peace.
