The results come after a collaborative effort between the town council grounds staff and Beautiful Battle volunteers.
A judge at the awards ceremony said: “Battle is an attractive small town, enhanced by its floral displays, making the town a welcoming place to visit and live in. Of particular note are The Almonry Gardens and the planted areas adjacent to the main road.”
Nearby Bexhill won the Coastal Town of the Year category at the South and South East In Bloom Awards, for the fourth year running.

The award ceremony took place in Fareham and the awards were presented by town mayor Cllr Connie Hockley and Alison Addy, the head of community engagement for Gatwick Airport, which sponsored the event.
