Battle Police’s donation to Hastings Area Archaeological Group

Battle Police has donated £250 to the Hastings Area Archaeological Group (HAARG).

Donations will be used to support the ongoing field work of the society in Rother and Hastings.

Kevin Cornwell, HAARG chairman, said: “Thank you for this funding. It all helps to unlock the history of local communities, our villages and towns, young and old. Stories of a hidden past are discovered and the fabric of communities told through our history.” The donation comes from the Police Property Act Fund, made up of monies received by the police from property confiscated by order of the court and then sold.

PCSO Daryl Holter, Rother’s heritage crime officer, said: “I am really happy to support HAARG and the works they are conducting locally within Rother and Hastings. They are opening the door to archaeology and heritage and making it accessible to the public.”
