Susan Kennard’s top tip for the evening was to practice, practice and practice. President Graham Gardener, introducing new member Ian Ellery, said he was starting on an exciting journey.

Ian described his successful career as an illustrator but advised members never to trust a school careers officer.

He made the audience laugh when he boasted that the 1980’s were the best time to have a company credit card.

Experienced speaker Dec Cluskey, assessing Ian’s first speech, stated it was one of the best ice breakers he had ever heard.
