Best-ever GCSE results for Littlehampton Community School

THEY'VE run the race, crossed the finishing line, and now students and staff at Littlehampton Community School have passed the baton on to the Littlehampton Academy after following up the best-ever A-level results with record GCSE passes.

Today's GCSE results at the school, with 40 per cent of students gaining the benchmark five A*-C passes, were a complete contrast to last year's disappointing grades, and just 29 per cent achieving the higher passes, beneath the Government target.

Head teacher Jayne Wilson said "We expected these to be our best-ever results. Students, staff and parents put in an inordinate amount of effort to prepare our students for their exams.

"These results mean that LCS will have met all the national targets, putting it into the top 25 per cent of similar schools nationally. Wow! An amazing achievement, and none more so considering the upheaval the school has gone through over the past 12 months.

Meticulous preparation

"I am ecstatic. This is amazing. It is a great way to finish. With the fabulous A-level results from last week in the bag, the academy takes over a school in excellent shape."

Mrs Wilson attributed the sharp improvement to meticulous preparation of students for their exams over the past 12 months, especially in maths and English.

She added: "It is so rewarding to see changes that were made bear such success. Year 11 embraced the different preparation and several students were mentored very closely over the whole year. I have nothing but praise for the extra work these students put into their studies. They have been rewarded with some good results."
