Bexhill beacon to be lit for Queen's birthday

The beacon in Bexhill will be lit in honour of the Queen's 90th birthday tonight (Thursday, April 21).

The organisation behind the Christmas decorations, Shining Lights, has hastily organised the event today to mark Queen Elizabeth II’s special day.

Director Andrew Crotty said he saw people complaining about the apparent lack of any sort of celebration so they decided to organise it themselves.

The event starts at 7.30 with the beacon on Galley Hill due to be lit at 8.30pm before a firework display.

Visitors are encouraged to wear or bring anything related to the Union Flag.
