Women who had previously attended the group, current members and new breastfeeding mums were all welcomed to the event.

The group celebrated with a ‘booby cake’ and with a bring and share lunch.

The group was set up last May by Jenny Baldwin an Association of Breastfeeding Mothers (ABM) Breastfeeding Counsellor and her mum Frances. It is held on a weekly basis throughout term time. Mums from all backgrounds and at all stages of pregnancy and breastfeeding are welcomed along to either receive specialist breastfeeding support from Jenny, or just to come and meet and socialise with some other breastfeeding mums. Each week we provide tea, coffee and cake and a listening and non-judgmental ear.

In 2015 the Bexhill Lions donated some money to allow the group to train up some peer supporters and provide some breastfeeding and parenting books which we loan out to mums. The group currently charges mums £1.50 per session to pay for rent and refreshments, however it is hoped that this will eventually be a free resource for local breastfeeding mums.

Bexhill Breast Mates takes place every Wednesday 10.30 - 12.00 in a lovely warm and inviting venue at the United Reformed Church in Cantelupe Road, Bexhill. For further information find Bexhill Breast Mates on Facebook or email [email protected].
